What are the differences between Magpul Slings (MS1, MS2, MS3, MS4)?

Here's a quick run-down on the Differences Between Magpul Slings.

The differences between Magpul slings are less complicated than you might think. While their naming structure leaves a little to be desired, the differences between the Magpul slings are simply the way they connect to your weapon. Below, we work our way down starting with the most expensive and working our way to the least expensive.

Magpul MS4 Dual QD Sling GEN 2

The MS4 Dual QD Sling Gen 2 features Dual Quick Disconnect sling swivels (MAG540-BLK)

The QD swivel is the primary attachment when the sling is converted to single point functionality. This means that the front and rear of the gun will need QD attachment points.

To connect the MS4 to the front of your gun:

If you have a railed handguard you'll want to use the Magpul RSA QD.

If you have the old Magpul MOE Handguard you'll want to use the Magpul MSA QD.

To connect the MS4 to the rear of your gun:

You can mount a Magpul ASAP QD between the lower receiver and receiver extension's (buffer tube's) castle nut. You will have to remove the castle nut which requires an armorer's wrench.

Alternatively, the Magpul MS4 Sling can be mounted to a buttstock if that buttstock has a QD attachment point or a QD attachment point can be added (Sling Mount Kits - Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3).

Magpul MS3 Single QD Sling Gen 2

The MS3 Single QD Gen 2 features one QD swivel and one Paraclip. The QD swivel is the primary attachment when the sling is converted to single point functionality. This means that the rear of the gun uses the QD attachment and the front of the gun will use the Paraclip attachment.

To connect the MS3 Single QD to the front of your gun:

If you have a railed handguard you'll want to use the Magpul RSA.

If you have an old Magpul MOE Handguard you'll want to use the Magpul MSA.

To connect the MS3 Single QD to the rear of your gun:

You can mount a Magpul ASAP QD between the lower receiver and the receiver extension's (buffer tube's) castle nut. You will have to remove the castle nut which requires an armorer's wrench.

Magpul MS3 Gen 2

The MS3 Gen 2 features Dual Paraclip. The Paraclip is the primary attachment when the sling is converted to single point functionality. This means that the front and rear of the gun will need Paraclip attachment points.

To connect the MS3 to the front of your gun:

If you have a railed handguard you'll want to use the Magpul RSA.

If you have a Magpul MOE Handguard you'll want to use the Magpul MSA.

To connect the MS3 to the rear of your gun:

You can mount a Magpul ASAP between the lower receiver and the receiver extension's (buffer tube's) castle nut. You will have to remove the castle nut which requires an armorer's wrench.

The Paraclip does not attach to any of the Magpul buttstocks.

Magpul MS1

The MS1 features two simple loops that can be mounted to most 1 1/4" sling loops. At the heart of the MS1 sling is the patented slider. The slider allows allows the operator the ability to rapidly adjust length without slippage. The beauty of the MS1 sling is its adaptability. If you would like to convert your MS1 sling into an MS3, MS3 single QD or MS4 sling then you can add adapters to your exact preferences. Once you've selected the adapter that you would like to use for the rear of your weapon, you can select either a QD Swivel or Paraclip adapter for mounting your MS1 to the front of your weapon.

DISCONTINUED MAGPUL SLINGS

MS2 - DISCONTINUED. This sling is no longer being produced.

MS3 Generation 1 - DISCONTINUED. You may find this sling still for sale at some retailers, but Magpul no longer produces this sling.

MS4 Generation 1 - DISCONTINUED. You may also find this sling still for sale at some retailers, but Magpul also no longer produces this sling.
