The PMAG Impact Dust Cover – GEN M2 MOE will also fit all older pre-GEN M2 variants of AR15/M16 PMAG (with Black or Foliage Followers). This cover will likewise fit the new PMAG GEN M3 but, being it is of a slightly different design, will not adequately seal a GEN M3 magazine against debris intrusion. There are multiple reasons to use PMAG Impact Dust Covers:

• Keep dust and debris out of your magazine during long term storage
• Keep dust and debris out of your magazine during transport
• Apply pressure to the top round of a loaded magazine which keeps the pressure off of the feed lips of the magazine.  Warped feed lips are not a concern with PMAGs though.
• PMAGS are tough...real tough, but if dropped from extreme heights and dropped directly on the feed lips...you'd want an IMPACT dust cover covering the feed lips.
• PMAG Impact Dust Covers can be used as color codes for different variations of hand loads or different brands of ammunition (this can be achieved by using different colored magazines as well)
